Our Story

How it Started

Talking to farmers and others within the wool industry it became clear that on-farm micron testing was costly, time consuming and often impractical.

Yet micron is the main determinant of bale price at auction. Leveraging their expertise in medical science, Vicky and Ben set about building technology to change this.

In 2018 Tom joined the team and together we grew the idea, partnering with Heiniger Australia to develop the technology from concept to reality.

What We Do

Woven Optics is working with our partners to build hand-held technology that will reliably measure wool micron on-farm and in real-time, anytime you want to.

Increasing revenue through improved bale sorting, circumventing current testing delays and reliability, and improving breeding efficiency - these are some of the key ways in which farmers have said our technology will help them.

Why We Do it

Our technology was created to help farmers and solve this problem, not the other way around. Tom has been guiding this approach since the early days and it’s why we are so motivated to do what is best for the farmer; if it’s not good enough for Tom, it’s not good enough for anyone else.

We aspire to build and deliver technology that makes farmers lives easier and more profitable.
